About Us

Every day a dog is left to starve, a cat is injured on the side of the road or a horse is on the verge of dying due to lack of shelter, food or veterinary care.

Not in our community?
Think again.

We are the Medina County Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals, Inc., a non-profit 501(c)3 humane society. Our Federal ID is  34-1507786.
The mission of the Medina County SPCA is to protect and care for animals in our community from abuse, cruelty, neglect, injury and abandonment.  We are an independent local shelter with no ties to any national organization or rescues, and we employ Humane Officers and Emergency Rescue Technicians who respond to calls about animals in need.

When abuse, cruelty or neglect cases are reported, an investigation is initiated resulting in one of the following outcomes:
  • Education through our Humane Education Program
  • Removal of animals from premises
  • Prosecution as per Ohio’s animal cruelty laws
In addition to our Humane Officers being a law enforcement official, our agency has prosecutorial powers.  Since the inception of the Medina County SPCA, there have been several successfully prosecuted cases of animal abuse and neglect in the community.
Adoption Hours: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday

We care for the animals every day, and donations are gratefully accepted between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or by appointment.

Animals in need are brought into our three stage system that provides medical care, rehabilitation and adoption.  When possible, the animals are placed in a foster home during recuperation.  Once they are well, they are made available for adoption to qualified homes.

There is always a need for foster homes for cats, dogs, small mammals, reptiles, horses and farm animals.  That’s why our work would not be possible without the generosity of individuals who open their homes to the animals that need help.
